Writer

John creates genre stories of loss, memory and reclaimed history - especially works that explore alternative histories and near-futures. He’s recently begun writing for screen - with feature film, GAIA developed as part of Ron Howard and Bryan Grazer’s Imagine Impact programme, and the film is now optioned by Hoodlum and Gentle Giant Media.

As a screenwriter, his TV pilot Ellie Ruins Everything co-written with multi-award-winning screenwriter, Lou Sanz is being developed by Orange Entertainment and Gambit Media after being part of the Australian Writer’s Guild ‘Pathways’ Programme. John is currently developing two genre features, The Devil’s Brigade and My Brother’s Road, with multi-award-winning LA-based Canadian director Jim Morrison IV and several projects in development with veteran producer George Adams.

Originally trained as a journalist and a graduate of NIDA’s Playwriting Studio, John’s currently developing an ambitious TV Series adaptation of Joan London’s celebrated novel Gilgamesh.

John’s been published and had plays performed across the globe. As a playwright, his plays include multiple seasons of You’re Welcome (Rosemary Branch and Soho Upstairs, UK and MKA’s HYPRTXT Festival - Melbourne); The Collectors (NIDA) and Just For Me (Red Room, New York and Buddies In Bad Times, Toronto).

John gained a BA in Media & Communications at the University of Sydney his writing on film, art, architecture and music have been published in Cabinet Magazine, Cream Magazine, Filmink and Dwell amongst others.
